Been a few days without blogging. Been at the coast with Amy, my nephew Matt and three of his buddies from Ohio. It was a very nice, albeit too short, stay. Everytime I'm near the water I think how I need to be around the ocean more. It's spiritually renewing. Perhaps it's the way it humbles me. To see the vast expanse of God's creation puts my world in perspective. I don't feel any less important to God, God just feels more important to me.

I'm attempting to grow some form of facial hair. I have never in my life had a mustache or beard. I figure sometime in my life I ought to have at least given a serious effort to growing one. Don't know if I'll give up this time...more likely Amy will lose her tolerance for my sudden nosedive into post pubescent vanity and I'll shave....If not perhaps we'll have a NAME THE BEARD contest.

The invasion has begun...my nephew and three of his buddies have arrived. It should be a fun week. Gorgeous weather. It'll be nice to take a break from the war.

New neighbors.. A Lutheran minister, his wife, teen daughter, three young boys and a beagle who sounds like a tortured demon when he howls, which he does primarily when I'm napping. I'm sure I'll adjust.

Taking vacation this week...if you can call playing host to four teen boys - taking them to the coast, and Mexico- a vacation. Get paid tonight, that should at least ease things a bit. We're still broke, but not as broke as we were.

Got a lesson in blessings today when I was informed a girl we've hired to care for babies at the church has no electricity because her husband has been out of work for months. They have a baby of their own. I was glad our church is the type of place that helps, no questions asked. I also became quite aware that when I "do without", I'm not "doing without" anything I really need.

Had a nice discussion last nite about the nature of our church and why it doesn't appeal to some folks. I truly believe some people want to be yelled at and convicted at church. We're not that type of place. If you need that type of thing THIS be of use.
