Out With The Mold
Lee and Ana returned from New Orleans this morning...and it was about as bad as we expected. The house is unlivable and getting more so every day. It will - by everyone's estimation - have to be torn down. Lee was able to salvage what she wanted most...her family photographs. They got some clothes (I'm about to go to the Laundromat and wash those en masse), and some other items, but almost every "thing" they had was destroyed. They are starting anew and now there is no lingering doubt.
This was a chapter that had to be written in this little family's life in order for the next chapters to be started.
Ana came rushing in the door and hugged me saying, "I'm so glad to be home."
Thank you God for Your many blessings, I pray I am worthy to live up to them.

I accidentally came across this site the other night and I've spent hours at my computer reading your entries. I can't get over how much you "sound" like my dad. I'm 38 years old and I'm not saying you sound like someone old enough to have a 38 year old daughter. My dad was 47 when he died in a car wreck, along with my stepmother and 14 year old sister, so in my mind he's eternally 47, which is strange, because I'm starting to catch up with him. I became a Christian four years ago. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but something in your writing made me remember how important mercy is in the life of a Christian, not just the mercy we've been given by Christ, but the mercy we should give other people when it would feel so much better to just bust 'em in the head with a hard-back, large print, study Bible. I needed that. In case you're wondering, my name is Tracy. I'm from Greenville, SC. I'm married and have two children ages 14 and 12.
Tracy,
You have made my day! Your Dad sounds like a wonderful guy, based on what you tell me :)
My God bless you and your family...and good luck with the 14 year old...I tell everyone that 14 is the age when I had the hardest time with my stepkids.
Now I have a 13 year old in the house...God has such a sense of humor :)

I have a 12 and a 13 year old. When I get married another 13 year old moves into the home.
God does have a sense of humor!
Peace Bro,
And the BEST part of God's sense of humour is that 14 year old's become 15, and then 16 and 17, and you wish they were 14 again. Just when you are ready to give up - they become human again, and they are great fun, and friends (providing you managed to get there with sanity in tact)
Bless you Michael - I am enjoying your stories of the Gomez family.
